Fort Collins is dedicated to making the area more bicycle friendly for residents and visitors. One of the latest contributions came from a local company, Equinox Brewery. The local brewery recently revealed a brand new bike-only parking lot for patrons and visitors to the area. It’s the city’s first bike-only parking lot. It’s helping to encourage a healthier and more Eco-friendly form of transportation, according to the City of Fort Collins.
“Establishing Fort Collins’ first bike-only parking lot on our property complements that balance, since commuting by bike is a balance between what’s environmentally friendly and healthy,” said Brewery owner Colin Westcott.

The Equinox Brewery got rid of 6 vehicle parking spots that used to be located on the south side of the building and decided to throw in a few bike racks. Now, up to 100 bikes can be parked in this area, instead of only 6 cars. To help to make it more appealing, the brewery owners also decided to spice it up with some new curbing and some landscaping.
The owners recommend that you lock your bike up if you’re going to park here, but say that they’ve installed video surveillance cameras to make it a little safer for everyone.
Molly North, the Fort Collins Bikes Coordinator, says that the new parking lot at the brewery helps to enhance the whole downtown experience. Not only does bicycling help to alleviate some of the vehicular traffic on our roadways, but it helps to bring in business to local shops.
